Deep Winter Photo comp
Posted to Articles by nicteichrob on Dec.14, 2009
On January 7, 2010, I will be showing a slideshow of images that were taken during the previous 3 days, shot inbounds only on Whistler and Blackcomb.
The Deep Winter photo challenge is a now annual event that began 4 years ago. The idea behind the comp is to show what conditions, light, etc are like on WB in January. Typically stormy, snow is hit or miss, and light is minimal, shooting at this time of year requires a different approach than sunny afternoons in April. I will be letting my creativity guide my photo taking and our team will work to create the best slideshow we can. I am stoked that Matty RIchard will be the subject of a large number of my photos during the comp. Matty kills it in every aspect of the sport and will surely find some gems to shoot. My brother and Matt Watkins (the first photog who I worked with a lot early on when shooting skiing) will be helping me carry gear around the mountains. Come one, come all, come see the final slideshow, January 7, 2010.
i’ll leave you with a biking shot from yesterday in the snow here in roberts creek.

Great shot! I invite you to also set up a free page on bigpacific.ORG, the social networking site for the coast. I’d love to see some more mountain biking content in general – I was just thinking yesterday as I drove through the Creek that this fall has been awesome for mountain biking and hiking weather.

thanks laurie. I have a few listing for photographic services on the coast, but no page on bigpacific.org. My mtn bike images are almost exclusively from the creek, with 3 local pros living here.
