So what is turning into an annual thing is an upcoming surf trip I am heading up.  Traveling to a remote beach on coastal BC  to surf at this time of year is dodgy.  Weak swell, and high pressure systems dominate, but when it is good, it is awesome.  Last year we nailed some super good surf but had pissing rain the entire time.  Lucky for us, the location is so rad that just camping is a good time.  Salmon fishing, crabbing, even some grey whales getting rad waiting for swell.  It is a little zone of paradise.  This year’s trip is a huge mix of people and surfing abilities but I’m sure it will be a good time.  I will be shooting photos and writing an article about it with the plan of a photo essay hitting the fall/early winter issue of Mountain Life magazine.

Stay tuned for when that hits the stands.  Until then, here is a shot from last year of a 10lb+ coho salmon I caught on a $15 telescoping rod.  Super fun and super tasty.
