The Past: Juggling Educational Moments

It’s amazing looking back at some of your previous efforts. It is insane to think how far my skiing and filmmaking has developed since this film was made in 05/06.
It was my third year in BC. I was still developing a new sense of what was possible in the mountains compared to my humble beginnings in New Mexico. Watching locals in Whistler tee off was a site to behold. While I’ve been freeskiing my whole life, constantly trying to go faster and higher, this was the beginning of my transformation into a solid, strong, and smart skier.
The previous year I had been rejected from the UBC Film Production Program. I made a terrible application film where my grand ideas of philosophical ponderings and beautiful images was a complete failure, and I knew it while sending the package in. So I decided to make something I was passionate about the next year, that I really knew deeply. This is that film and I got in.
I am embarrassed by my skiing and the filmmaking, but at the same time I am proud at the evolution of my physical and creative sides into what they are now.
My two passions will be combined with great intensity in the future. I know it and it brings a giant smile and nervous anticipation every time I think about it.
Here’s the film. Juggling Educational Moments.
